Springboard kicks off its next venture forum in our Nation's Capitol. In conjunction with our AllThingsLifeScience Bootcamp, we have also planned a few additional events for you:

International Association of Microfinance Investors (IAMFI) Networking Event

IAMFI is a 501 (c)(6) global membership association with the mission to help
investors leverage their capital more effectively, in order to achieve
attractive financial returns and social impact. IAMFI supports current and
potential commercially oriented investors in microfinance by offering
industry information from an objective viewpoint, conducting independent
research, hosting educational and networking events, and facilitating
dialogue among industry influencers to improve the global environment for
microfinance investing. Microfinance provides financial services to
low-income entrepreneurs lacking access to the formal banking sector. The
vast majority of borrowers are women entrepreneurs. For more information,

Using the angel investor circle model, the IAMFI Investor Network meeting
creates the forum in which prospective investors may attend the MIVs' (Micro Investment Vehicles) presentations and engage in Q&A. In addition, the meeting will offer investors a venue for networking with like-minded peers; after the
presentations we will host a reception.

Call for Nominations: CASE Enterprising Social Innovation Award

The Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) at Duke University is accepting nominations for the Enterprising Social Innovation Award. Building off of the success of our inaugural award, we seek to recognize outstanding individuals, organizations, or companies whose innovations blend methods from the worlds of business and philanthropy to create sustainable social value that has the potential for large-scale impact. We invite you to nominate any individual, organization, or company that you feel embodies this award via the CASE website by June 30, 2009.

The award offers the recipient an opportunity to share their innovation with the greater Duke community and offers students the ability to learn from innovators in the field. Interest in philanthropy for and by women has intensified in recent years, accompanied by a growing acceptance of the idea that philanthropic investments in women and girls can accelerate positive change in communities. To understand this evolution in thinking and practice, the Foundation Center partnered with the Women's Funding Network, a global movement of more than 145 member funds, to chart the landscape of philanthropy focused on women and girls and document the specific role played by women's funds. The report examines these funds' distinctive contributions to philanthropy and the dimensions and scope of their grantmaking.

This program is free of charge, but advance registration is required. Registration is limited
